Lilian Maximillian is a creative and dance practitioner based in Kampala, Uganda. Her background in Ugandan traditional and urban / street dance has molded her into a performer, choreographer, and teacher fascinated with self-discovery, authenticity, identity, heritage, experimentation and connection to the now.  Her steadfast exploration and development of a fused style is evidenced in her choreographic and pedagogic voices. Lilian Maximillian is a creative and dance practitioner based in Kampala, Uganda. Her background in Ugandan traditional and urban / street dance has molded her into a performer, choreographer, and teacher fascinated with self-discovery, authenticity, identity, heritage, experimentation and connection to the now.  Her steadfast exploration and development of a fused style is evidenced in her choreographic and pedagogic voices.

She has choreographed works and  taught master classes at CODARTS, Netherlands Academie of Theatre and Dance, MUDA, Sarakasi, University of Maryland (USA), and for theatre performances, showcases, and television commercials.

Maximillian is part of grass-root organizations and projects, which has led to the growth of her career.  Through  diverse dance activities  she works to empower youth and girls in schools, and communities. She is also an anti gender-based violence against girls and women advocate.  Since 2014 Maximillian is a core team member and co-conspirator   of Batalo East. She is also co-founder of Afrooted, Kkoolo Arts Projects.

Her principal artistic practice is dance, through which she experiments with other art forms  With her dance works, she strives to connect audiences through reflecting the beauty of embracing heritage and individuality.
